middle-class mentality!

we went to another pathetic movie and spent nearly Rs400. after coming out, we repented and some thoughts smothered me. i wish i spent those 400 bucks on something else...like...
1) i would have paid one month rent for milk (and still save some more money)
2) paid one month electricity bill
3) bought petrol for my scooty for 3 weeks
4) bought a nice dress for me or sari for mom, or something else for my sis and dad
5) bought nice hand bag (which will last for atleast a year) or a pair of shoes
6) had nice food outside
7) bought gas for cooking for the whole month
8) gave as charity for the needy
9) sponsored education for a child
10) distributed fruits to the hunger
11) go for nice facial in a parlour
12) paid my monthly telephone/internet bill
13) and lots more.....

i hail from a middle class family where our parents tried to provide us all the comforts but not luxuries. we were taught to live with a respect and use money carefully. for us...spending Rs100 wasnt a big thing...but surely we did the cost benefit analysis and the risk assessment involved in spending a green note. i dont know if you all agree with my thought or not...but i definitely feel bad when i go for unnecessary expenditure...after all, there are so many people in this world for whom a single grain, single penny and piece of cloth matter alot.
i sometimes laugh at myself when i do so much of cost benefit analysis for tiny things and get depressed when i find huge losses and no gains..lol
i call it middle-class mentality!

Some movies these days are so horrible the producer must pay compensation to viewers under consumer protection act.

Varudu? I heard the movie sucked.. :)

Hmm.. Yah.. Well, there's always the initial ecstasy to spend money on luxuries after landing in a well paying job.. Sooner or later, there has to come this phase where every penny counts.. :)

Feel proud that u do cost analysis, even i do, but sometimes i get carried away with so much of pretty things around me, later i realise that they were just unnecessary. I found a wayout of it, i ask my mom before i buy any thing

Sometimes i plan expenditure for my first salary... like i ll buy this.. no i ll buy that.. or i ll buy thisn that but i end up saving it for something better even in my day-dreams.. ;)

hey grt way to put it. but i dont think this is in anyway related to so called "Middle class Mentality" as a matter of fact i dont believe there is some thing like that exists at all.

My perception is its all because of human behavior under financial constrains. this applies to all irrespective of financial well being. Only difference is that ticket value of cost benefit analysis increases proportionally

Dear sis, Nice analysis. Next u wanna watch a movie then u can similar analysis on the movie. A few points:
1. What is the movie subject
2. What is the reputation of the director and his success rate
3. If u like comedy, what is its specific casting
4. If u like songs or dances or fights, check the background of music director, choreographer or stunt master etc
5. Hero and heroine's credibility
6. Not but the least, the movie reviews on the net.

I prefer that producers and directors should really fear the critics. Movie goers shud really evaluate the movie b4 buying the ticket. Only then, we get to see quality movies made in the industry.

ive also had these thoughts after spending money lavishly, but the fact is that we think of this only after spending the money. it wudve dont some good if we had this thought b4 spending it...
