Uday Kiran committed suicide. The very first thought that struck me was, "Alas! he is killed". My eyes became moist and so are my mother's and my friends'. We were never his fans. But he proved that a common man can make it big. Yet, he took his life.
But who killed him? He committed suicide. It is evident. Even forensics can prove it. But really? Is he that weak to do so? The news channels are screaming and yelling at their pitch that he died due to family problems? One news channel reported that he died because he is under financial pressure. Another one went ahead to claim that he has differences in his married life. But what I fail to understand is, where were these people when he was killed careerwise a decade ago?

Uday Kiran is an epitome of any middle class young boy, who dreamt of making it big into film industry. Like NTR dreamt 50 years ago. Like ANR dreamt 45 years ago. Like Ramanaidu dreamt 40 years ago. Like Chiranjeevi dreamt 30 years ago. Like many other legends, Uday was a young boy who came into the tinsel town with starry dreams. With budding acting skills, critics' whips and fans' demands, he paved a path for himself. He went on to grab awards, dreamy roles and duets in beautiful landscapes. Amidst all these dreams, came the proposal of chiranjeevi's daughter. Suddenly the star was high in career and personal life.
Overnight his engagement was called off. Which is a very personal reason. But what was more surprising was, his career plunged into a valley and disappeared into oblivion. What I fail to understand here is, why the career of a young boy, whose engagement was called off, is no where to be seen? What had happened was his personal life. What does it have to do with movies? Why directors and producers ignored him? Why the same film industry who once ran behind him for appointments, shunned him. Really? Like the film industry never supported heroes with girlfriends out of wedlock? Like never supported actors whose engagements/weddings broke off? Never supported heroes who were in news for wrong reasons? Really?
No one wants to speak. No one wants to accept that, he was a potential threat to many upcoming heroes who are part of legacies and lineages. He doesn't have a father/babais (uncles), mother and brothers from film industry to support him. The depressing part of the ordeal is, even producers and directors proved to be dumb, deaf and blind. The actor was left on roads.
The film industry is definitely not the only reason why Uday Kiran is no more. But definitely played an important role in ending his life. Ending his career. For conspiracy. For brutality.
Its been 24 hours since the news broke out. Not a single so-called ivy-league actor from film industry like chiranjeevi, venkatesh, nagarjuna, the nandamuris or for that matter, any hero of this gen has commented on his death. It was just Murali mohan and character/junior artists who are expressing their condolences. Why is this? Is he so unimportant? Not to forget that Uday Kiran was a trendsetter. He brought fresh air and new life to movies in new millenium. He paved a way for rom-coms in Telugu. He gave life to many young/new directors, music directors and heroines.
May his soul rest in peace. May the brutal minds behind his career realise their mistake. Even if no one is ready to accept, deep in their hearts, they know, they were instrumental in his death. Deep in their hearts they know they killed him. Deep in their hearts they know, they ended the dreams of a young boy. Deep in their hearts, they know they will continue to do so...as long as audience hail their self proclaimed legacy. As long as audience are brainwashed. As long as audience fail to understand the difference between talent and blood relations.
RIP my chocolate hero. I miss you.

The media is so depressing too. One stage they targeted him as a flop-actor soon after his death they say he was an award winning actor. What happened to all of them when he was waiting for another break?
The film industry is nothing but ridden with castes, big stars; their families and their egos. They live around fear; fear of competition.. fear or losing their status to a common person (like Uday who had no 'babu' background). I am glad he is at peace now. The industry never deserved him.
People like you killed him.. what were you doing when he released 10 movies in the last 8 years? You say you were never his fan, yet you decided to write a blog on his death. The reality is he does not have the talent to make right choices in movies. Great director balachander also made a movie with him, it should have revived his career after that. For you this an opportunity to vent out your frustration about Tollywood. His dad left him 6 years ago, his wife and her family didn't even come to collect his body from mortuary. Yet, you are hell bent on blaming other heroes. Director Teja also started with him, look where he is now... he has only formula of making movies and that is not working. Whatever differences he had with chiranjeevi family definitely affected his career.. he would have ended his life long back when his career was over, when his mom died and dad left and got remarried. At least if half of people like you watched his movies and encouraged him his career would've restarted. But, you choose not to because he doesn't have what it takes to maintain that fame. Look at varun sandesh and his choice of movies after his rise to fame.. look at Tarun. On the other end look at hero Nani.. he made right choices, he sustained.
Kris7na...When did I say I did not watch his movies? I am not a fan of any hero except SV Rangarao and NTR. They made a niche. But I watch everybody's movie. What you said makes sense. he made a wrong choice in selecting movies. So, did Abhishek bachchan. His first 10 movies flopped. He had a broken engagement. But nothing stopped his career. Even movies of Jr NTR, Pawan Kalyan, Ram charan Tej, allu Arjun...doomed at box offices. But how are they still sustaining. So it was director's fault but not theirs? But what a coincidence. After the engagement everything doomed for him. This is not about marriage and chiru's family. This is about people conspiring to ruin his career. No one disagrees to this fact. Even actor like Nitin is struggling to this day despite of his good looks. Tarun, Nani, raja, Shivaji...everyone is struggling. Why is it that when one doesn't have a lineage, can not survive. Except for Chiranjeevi, no hero after him in tollywood was selfmade. And regarding his family...so you say that because his mother died, father remarried and brother died,...he committed suicide. You can think of better reasons to come up with. And FYI- I have watched more movies in tollywood and interacted with most of them than you must have!
Nonsensical Natter- Well said. No one talked about him. But now, everyone claims they offered movies to him. Who cares if they have or they have not. Question is,,,why did they even end it in the first place. May his soul RIP.
And by the way....nowhere did I mention that one family ruined/killed him. Can you highlight and show me that? Sorry that you are interpreting it in that way!
My rant was all about.. do you really think Uday kiran had the talent in him to sustain the expectations he got? Actors like tarun, varun sandesh, Allari naresh's brother rajesh, vishnu, brahmanandam's son, AVS' s son, MS' s son... all acted as heroes and tried their luck. The reality is Uday Kiran didn't have it in to sustain the stardom for long period.. please watch chitram, nuvvu nenu, manasantha nuvve, kalusukovalani all at once and i can tell you he doesn't have the talent in him to sustain for long. Hero nithin also struggled but now he seems to have rediscovered himself that's why he is getting offers from top directors. Don't you think leading directors would've worked with nitin after SYE. Uday kiran worked along side rebel star krishnamraju, with balachander.. he couldn't repeat the magic. How many fans really stand in queue to watch his movies on first day. Also, regarding top families not visiting him, as i said his own father didn't go to see his body after his death. We guys look at stars in movies and judge them by their screen appearances. I really don't want to talk about his personality but he lost his dad's love when he alleged that he is misusing his money.. those are his personal problems anyways. I share your views that industry is not fair and he probably deserved better, let's hope things change at least now. He was not getting any offers since 15 months now.. and he's living off his wife's earnings which was not easy for him, probably that pushed him towards committing such cowardly act.
Kris7na Very well said.
@Kris7na babu.. udhay kiran talent leda.. nuvvu super.. ikada vundlina varu kaadu meeru.. hollywood ki vellalsinde... _/\_
if you did not find uday kiran talented . krishna may be watching taraka ratna's films or ram charan n all sirish all these days
I completely differ with the points- "He does not have the talent to make right choices in movies" and "Uday Kiran didn't have it in to sustain the stardom for long period". The shocking and irony is backing by Swats.
I've been closely observing the filmdom for the past three years and UDAY for a while. Had met Uday, his wife couple of times. All I can say is UDAY HAD MADE HIS CHOICES OUT OF THE OFFERS HE HAD GOT!! HE CAN'T SIT IDLE BY REJECTING ALL THE OFFERS THAT CAME IN HIS WAY.
CINEMA IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT. A MOVIE SUBJECT MIGHT LOOK ASTONISHING AND SOUND AMAZING WHEN IT IS BEING NARRATED AND LATER THE SAME PERSON MAY HAVE DIFFERENT OPINION ON IT WHEN IT COMES TO FILMING STAGE. AS CINEMA DEALS WITH EMOTION. NO ONE CAN'T REALLY PREDICT PULSE OF PEOPLE. IF ANYONE SAYS SO, THEY'RE FOOLING YOU. PEOPLE IN INDUSTRY WORK ON HOPE, ASSUMPTIONS. MOVIES MAY WORK OR MAY NOT AT BOX OFFICE FOR UMPTEEN REASONS.
YOU CAN'T BLAME UDAY FOR THE FLOPS HE GOT. AFTER ALL, A MOVIE IS A TEAM EFFORT. At times, even Producer's lack of planning, insufficient funds, dull promotion, jostle for screens, narrow release might AFFECT a FIlM's SUCCESS. IN FACT, ANY SMALL THING COULD CHANGE A FATE OF MOVIE EITHER FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE. MOVIES ARE HIGHLY VOLATILE.
IT's ALWAYS QUITE EASY TO BLAME UDAY or anyone else for his FAILURES. But the fact of the matter is partly It's Destiny. A few things are not in anyone's hands. No one on this globe could predict a Film's success or failure accurately.
Uday had showcased his acting prowess and proved his mettle. We can rant now that Uday should have opted for an image makeover, expanded his base, should have gone places, should have tested waters in small screen, etc. But who knows exactly what happened? He might have got the same age-old scripts, similar genres. Producers might not be interested to invest on experimental, out-of-the-box films...
We can say Uday should have done this, done that...it's all easy to say!!! ONLY UDAY AND GOD KNOW WHAT HE HAD GONE THROUGH...FOR THAT MATTER NO ONE KNOWS INCLUDING HIS WIFE OR FAMILY OR FRIENDS OR MEDIA OR POLICE...Only Uday knows the trauma.
Rest in peace Uday Kiran...
GMVRC... I didn't say he has no talent.. once you reach top position in any field.. you should have the qualities to stay there for longer period. Uday kiran's acting abilities were not good enough to compete with pawan kalyan, mahesh babu etc. Even Nani acts better than him.. that's what I wanted to say. Even Ajith Agarkar was praised as next Kapil dev when he first came into National team.. look where he is now. Agarkar had talent but couldn't sustain the competition at National level.
"But what I fail to understand is, where were these people when he was killed careerwise a decade ago?"..Good Question, Which Has No Answers!!!
Whether Uday Kiran was talented or not was proved long ago when he had three smashing hits back to back.... Those stories werent new ..What attracted was the boyish appeal and a breath of fresh new acting which Uday unleashed....Yes things went wrong later due to bad scripts..but we can defentely not ignore the fact that he lost on good scripts due to the political/ filmy reasons.....Wish he had good scripts and had a wonderful comeback.
Swats - Very well worded and heartfelt note... RIP Uday!!

Well I backed up about the unfortunate incident. Not to the point that he doesn't have the talent. If I believe he doesn't have the talent, I wouldn't be facing this bashing. He is definitely a promising talented actor of this genre. No doubt.
I have already explained myself in my reply to GMVRC... some actors have it in them to perform all kinds of roles. Why is ravi teja facing failures after Mirapakay movie? After a point of time people get bored looking at same genre from same hero. Uday kiran's sreeram released before his fight with mega family which was below average movie. I want you all to honestly answer if he really had it in him to sustain all the competition and reach top position and stay there for long. (if he had no fight with chiru). All 3 of uday kiran's blockbusters were of same genre. Balakrishna himself couldn't manage a decent career after narasimha naidu hit. Tarun acted with genelia and ileyana recently with good directors, why is he still struggling even though he has good background? Now Nani looks promising with talent, he has decent tollywood background. Will he be suppressed by leading heroes? Ravi teja and srikanth reached where they are without industry background. How many ever good stories you take to actors like abhishek bachan, varun sandesh, raja, shiva balaji they can't reach and stay in the top position with big market. Ranbir kapoor and Imran khan started their career at same time both have great background in bollywood... Both are good looking.. both tried different genre.. why is ranbir famous and successful.. why is imran struggling to fare better him? The politics that were played with uday's career were sad and depressing but let's face the reality.. even if he had decent chances and Good stories at his feet, he would have had equal market as jagapathi babu or dr. Rajashekar. Their talent is limited. Talent is what people like Sr. NTR, ANR, chiranjeevi had.. who maintained that position. I rest my case. Also, caste politics should stop in the industry. But how will they stop when all the fan communities in andhra region are totally caste based? I know people who like mahesh, Jr. Ntr only because they belong to same caste. My cousin was asked to stop liking pawan kalyan becaus he belongs to different caste. Few of my friends are crazy about nitin only because he is the first top hero from reddy community.
Udai Kiran had not received any help from anyone because he was a Brahmin .
Udaikiran died because in movies Brahmins are not allowed to act .
