my food for 2 weeks

Here I would like to reveal some facts about being VEGAN....I dont even eat cakes, as they have eggs in it. I always feel proud of myself as I am a pure veggie and in a way am saving the animal kind. i was very happy to visit Bangkok but guess what... I knew in hand that it would be difficult for me to have proper food. I suffered from food crisis when I was in Colombo. I know how hard it is to find some vegetarian food...forget about idli and Dosa...

So, I was quite smart enough to buy ready to eat food and ready to cook noodles. I got some stuff for myself and packed the whole luggage with the food items. My mom suggested me to take some rice flakes as they compensate Rice...thanks Mom...
before boarding the flight, I asked my dad to take me to the nearest Restaurant which is called "Walk and Eaat" (yes it is Eaat but not Eat), ordered Sambar Idli and also had nice dosa. I knew it would be my meal of satisfaction for the next couple of weeks.

My struggle to supress my apetite started from the first day itself. I had no other option except for boiled cabbage, baby corn and some green leaves...sometimes the veg pizza in the nearest Pizza company (the pizza was 115 bucks..thats tooooo costly).....

i drank lots of coke, sprite, coconut water and fruit juices...i had given complete rest to my tastebuds for 2 weeks.
I went to a departmental store to buy ready to make noodles and finally spotted one...but to my suprise...i discovered a small photo of piglet smiling happily...i just laughed at myself and the poor pig and left the noodle cup there itself.

well, whenever I went to any restaurant, I should make the point clear that I need only veg food. in Thai language this is how I used to converse with them...

me: Food?? noodles?? noodles?
he/ She: yes...noodles???
me: vegetarian????
He: vegtarian?
me: No chicken, no goat, no pork, no beef, no mushroom, No egg....
He: oh ok..only rice...boiled rice..
me: yes yes
He: ok ok...just a moment please...

so this is how I used to tell them that i need vegetarian food. even in our hotel we were provided with grand buffet serving 50+ items for breakfast and only pieces of fruit, juices and some bread and butter for me.

In lunch I could manage some white rice with aloo masala..yes I had the previlege to have aloo masala for 10 days with white rice. and in the dinner, Maha gave me some pickel (which i gifted her from India) and I bought some white rice and yogurt. i ended up finishing my packed ready to eat food in Bangkok and left almost nothing for Phuket.

and yes last but not the least, in the flight -way back home, the thai airways had no vegetarian food. They were offering me some boiled vegetable and I screamed at my pitch "nahi yeh nahi ho sakta"

Thanks to my sister who packed sambar rice for me in the hostel

and yes..on the last day.
I had my Breakfast in Phuket, Lunch in Bangkok and Dinner in Hyderabad...wow!!!!!!!!!!

days in BKK

hey guys ..i know its been such a long time since i wrote something. the trip to bangkok was too hectic yet funfilled. i enjoyed my stay there but i suffered from homesickness during the last days. thanks to my family and friends who assured me and helped me come over it.

to start with -Day 1 in BKK was cool. I landed at around 6am and slept till afternoon in the room and wokeup just to realise that i had no lunch to eat. i cooked the noodles that i took with me and had it on the very first day. that was the moment when my struggle for food started in the land of elephants.

Day by day passed away, all I did was meetings, classes and shopping...and what i bought was all roadside stuff. i am serious..there is lot of fun in buying that road side stuff..pick up something, bargain and own it...wow...its such an excitement. the first week ended miraculouosly without giving any hints. it was a funfilled week where the entire team was cool and we had loads of fun. though my struggle to fill my stomach continued all the days. its all pork pork and pork...and sometimes u get steak, chicken, mutton and lot of sea food. for vegans like me, its just boiled cabbage, baby corn and some green leaves....

the 1st sunday flew off in Jatujak (weekend market) and I had bought lots of stuff....just to realise that i ended up buying nothing...yes i mean it...

then came the 2nd week, where i am the facilitator...wow to facilitate the training programme for youngleaders of south asia...sounds so exciting..right? infact it is... the second week also sped away without any notice....the week was very energetic...

hey i forgot to tell u onething here..i got many wows and cool apreciations for my traditional attire during the cultural evening where i cladded myself in Pochampally sari....well in a way I stole the show...hehehe

the last evening, was really sad, departing from fellows who stood by you for a whole week is very painful. but it has to happen. so we all tried to end the week with some nice bollywood steps..hehe...and yes we did it...

then the 2nd sunday....it was time to pack luggage and fly to phuket...

girls and the not so good guys....

Abhinaya has been a very good friend of mine and i have always adored her for n- number of reasons. most of the times i felt, she is a photocopy of mine and ofcourse a virgo female too. we have lots in common and i love her company. now i miss her very much but thanks to the rapidly developing communication, we are always in touch. when i sent the mail to her the "grooms wanted" one, she responded immediately with her piece of write-up. she showed me this long back and i also saved it in my lappy. when she again emailed me this, i have asked her if i could make it public. she very happily gave me a nod and it is here for all of you. it is such a lovely write-up which reads the mind of every girl who is ready but not so ready for marriage.
read it and let me and abhi know what you feel..... for all the readers..my friend ABHINAYA WROTE this....
It is true that I can never warm up to an average Chowdhury guy - defined : Some software engineer, either US returned or US resident or US aspirant, neither tall nor dark nor handsome, with no sense of humor, would watch Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi movies and think they are fabulous, can not spell romance, can never think of bringing even a single zerbra along, who would be on a look out for a 'fair, slim, beautiful and educated girl from a good family background', expect his wife to come earlier from work than him and cook mutton curry for him, would expect her to be readily available for a shag though he might be sweaty, smelly and oozing grime. This person,I am sure would have stained teeth and dirt loaded nails, unkempt feet with unequally crimped toe nails (with the skin dry and white beyween the toes and at the heel...yuck!!).He would possibly be wearing every shirt 38 times before he would give it for a wash. His sucker friends would dicuss bitches at work and indulge in cheap humor which comprises of replaying Bramhanandam jokes or some other cheapster's (is there a word like cheapster??...never mind..). His dad would probably have issues with me wearing my A-line and his mother with me leaving my hair open. To add to it, they would expect my dad to cough up a good lot as 'dowry', which my dad would gladly do.
Damn!Damn!Damn! what crap. but mom and dad do not want to understand. I DO NOT WANT TO MEET UP WITH SUCH CRAPPY CRAZY MANIACS,DAMN IT!!yeah, yeah, I know...they will not be all this bad would be the arguement...but most would be like this...and I am not meeting up with 1000 maniacs to locate that one person...if it is meant to be, it will happen...you may buy my theory, you may not...but as of now,I HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF GETTING MARRIED. I AM JUST NOT READY FOR IT.and I do not know if I would ever be...but definitely I am not getting married to some random guy I would meet up with through some marriage bureau by sending my pictures flying off in all directions across the globe. NOOOOOOOOOOOO WAAAAAAAY.
Thanks Abhi for contributing such a wonderful piece...
what do u say guys?

grooms wanted...

I was going through yahoo news and found this article. its everyones note and i am like wow. i couldnot get the author's name but i appreciate her for everything as she completely read every girl's mind. thank you author. i am pasting this for all of you my lovely readers. enjoy it. Many people thought I wrote this piece. NO, I have not written this....I say again..I got it from YAHOO NEWS.

GROOMS WANTED
YAHOO NEWS/ Thu, May 8 2008- 12:45 AM

So okay, my profile is on a matrimonial website along with my contact number. Since my parents are old and I don't want to stress them, I thought it would be best to handle this business independently. Besides, I thought since I was the one getting married, I would be in a better position to evaluate profiles. Once I finalise on someone, I could get the elders involved. So 'suitable and unsuitable' parties call me on my cell phone and are surprised to know that I am the 'bride-to-be.' They wonder how I am answering their call.In charge Some are also a little awkward talking to "the bride" and request me to ask my parents to call them. I tell them they can talk to me and I am "in charge. " They pause for a bit and ask me about my family background, where do we hail from, my siblings, where we live and other trivia. Eventually they request me to email my horoscope and my 'recent' photograph.Once I was talking to a lady who was matchmaking for her son. We chatted for a bit (she was quite excited since I could speak my 'mother tongue'). She then requested me to send my 'full length' photograph. I told her to check my picture on the site, but she said she couldn't 'study' my face properly and wanted a close-up. I wondered why she wanted a microscopic view of me and even joked with her about it. But overall, I think we approved one another. At least she was not among the typical ones who gave you the shudders - being very measured in what they say or expect to hear. She was quite candid and volunteered enough information about their family background. But at the same time she was tactful enough to not act too nosy and pushy about getting info from me. Another gentleman once called, asking me if he could possibly talk to someone regarding marriage. I told him that I'd be happy to provide him with the necessary info. He was taken aback that 'the bride' herself was conducting the search.Anyway he asked for my 'horoscope' and it was decided that we would get in touch if the horoscopes matched. Ask me something Soon, the groom's brother got in touch with me, and I let him know that I'd rather hear from the 'groom' himself at this stage. I did in a few days, when 'he' gave me a call and the first thing he said was "You wanted to ask something?" Now it was my chance to be taken aback. I mentioned casually that I wanted to speak to him to know him better as a person. We got talking about families, job, hobbies and other such. He then interrupted me to ask, "I thought you wanted to ask me something".I said that I already had and bid him goodbye.
so true..isnt it?

language problem!!!!

how well versed are we with our language? am not sure...i guess i am ok with hindi, english and my mother tongue, telugu..but what happens when we are assigned to do something in an alien language which is completly new to us and we are forced to work on that...
this is what happened to lavanya, my friend. read it in her own language.. she commented to my write-up on "confused cow" i am pasting it as it is...have fun!!!!!

Its never too late to comment.I never been to blogs or such but wen i saw yours its quite intersting and this cow episode, really the most funniest .I have one to share too, but that was written by me when i was in 2nd class(kashmir).I was asked to sit and write urudu test in school because they didnt know i was hindi subject student and my class teacher wasnt their to rescue me n the substitute teacher wont listen ,so they just handed me a paper with something scibbled on it, i know its Urudu but dont knows what it meant.I was just staring at the paper and turned and saw that everyone were writing seriously. I felt bad , then the teacher who handed me Question paper came, she saw that my answer sheet was blank and asked me to take help from anyone.I was very happy i asked my neighbour what this Urudu scribbling meant , she said its "Write Essay on Cow".I was relieved now i know what it meant .Again that teacher came to me and said cant you write such an easy essay, i tried to tell her i amnt urudu student but she didnt buzz, she was like "WRITE Something".I got angry on her and Voila..my creative mind started working..if she wants soemthing she is going to get that.I know wat those words meant ..so i started writing my own urudu while jumbling those words..i invented so many words dont ask me , everyone wrote just a small paragraph but i took extra sheets and filled them with my language. That teacher thought i was writing an eassay and said now your mind is working..i said proudly "YES". After a day after test my dad got notice that pricipal wants to meet him.My dad went in to the Prinicipal's office i was outside..after few minutes i joined him ..i was so scared and was crying. When i went in both principal n my dad were laughing so loudly. The prinicipal told me that i wrote the most fantastic Essay on Cow even wen i dont know Urudu. (hehehe)psst:Sorry its very elaborate!!

being a pillion rider

its always a cool feeling to be the pillion rider and enjoy the fun being on the bike while the driver gets all the pleasure to bear the traffic nuisance, the flowing pollution and the confused signals. i am a bit lazy to drive on heavy traffic roads; so havenot got a bike till date. hopefulyl i will get one soon.

so am writing this bike as a pillion rider. you know what? we can actually do a research on experience of the pillion riders and the bikes. woooo man...i guess someone would get inspired by this..

let me start with the gearless bikes. the small bikes like scooty, spirit and sunny are very convenient and my long legs are always there to avoid any accident. yeah..i can very well balance and also support myself (and then the driver ofcourse). big bikes like dio, activa and nova are a bit difficult. though i get the feeling of smooth ride, i am scared a bit when i am amidst the traffic. bapre,.....the fast moving buses and autos are so scary..they just dont care who is next to them.

now i reveal my experince on DIO, driven by sameera (my colleague). she is smart and so is her machine. when i seat myself on DIO, i get the feeling of being on a space rocket. my legs are far above the ground, no support for my hands and the broad seat of the vehicle where i cant even imagine my body being together. now when she ignites the vehicle and accelerate it, i am very much in the air. the rocket speed driving and the rocket like position gives me a feeling of extra terrestrial ride where i have no support and i am being taken to the high skies and i can fall at any moment. my heart skips whenever i see her zooming between the two buses close enough to get friction. i dont believe my eyes when i pass between them and realise that they are left behind. the dividers are no stoppages for her and i always scream at my pitch when she surpasses them. wow...one should actually get this experience and have a free ride to the mars and venus and other astronomical bodies. huh..am tired and i need a break.

i shall discuss about being on the guys' bikes ones i get complete experience. i am very nascent in describing it....take a break and be a pillion rider to get the feeling...........

something worst than hell....

oldage homes have always been one of my favourite holiday spots. Since a decade I have been visiting such homes and spending time with the innocent elders where I can get some genuine smile and true hellos and his.

its been a logn time since i have been there as i seldom get time here in this dirty metro. thanks to tony who wanted to donate some clothes on behalf of his company. I had a chance to visit one such home a couple of days back.

i am emotional but not at places like these where i know i have to be stable. no point in shedding tears infront of people who need your shoulder. so i have always maintained my calm. this time i was with tony, his colleagues and tulasi.
as i entered the firsth room of the home, these 3 ladies were sitting on their beds. the first one held my hand and wished me...some how my eyes became misty...but still i was stable...she started speaking to me as if she saw her daughter after a decade....she was as cordial and warm as my mother...and then she said that she misses her 5 daughters and 2 sons very much... hold on deary... i was like..u have 5 daughters..and 2 sons? and what r u doign here? where r they?

the answer from her which revealed the facts that all of them are in hyderabad and are very BUSY and have NO TIME to take care of her left me in a rage...bullshit...how come someone has no time for own parents? how can some one leave them in oldage homes just because they r paying Rs 3k bucks per month?

i was taken aback....what will be my situation at this old age...GOd...no matter what i will never leave my parents.....let it be any one in my family...i shall run an oldage home and accomodate all my relatives ...but for god's sake i will never leave them..

just imagine how it would be...the urine bags attached to the body, the legs and hands not supporting to move...the scheduled meals depriving us of our taste buds, the public rooms with 3-4 more people in the same situation and the loved ones sending the timely cheques and visiting us once or twice a month....dont you think its worst than hell? i feel so....

Ps--I am not calling oldage homes worst..but am calling the life sans loved ones the worst...

something worth watching

i watched the movie "The Bucket List". I haven't shed tears when i watched Taare zameen par. May be i was more into the technicalities of the movie. But bucket list left my eyes mositened. the whole theater was clapping after the movie. kudos to the actors and the director for making such a masterpiece.i learnt alot from the movie. i always believed in the fact that "tomorrow is uncertain...so let me live the day".this movie is all about that. i am not revealing anything about the movie here. i suggest one must watch it to know what life means and how to live it. i am also planning to prepare a BUCKET LIST for my life....i hope you will also do it...love u all
