am not feminist..but i dont even entertain male chauvinists....my stint with city buses in metros is teaching me new lessons every day..
andhra pradesh has been successful in providing RTC (road transport conrporation) buses since decades...i have always travelled by these buses and enjoyed safe ride...the buses have provision of seperate seats for Ladies, disabled people and senior citizens. the front door is for ladies, senior citizens and the disabled and the back one for gents...
but the days are changing...the time runs fast and so are the buses...none has time to allow only ladies from the front door...and gents never mind getting into the bus from it...i wonder why women never take the back door? may be we follow the rules...huh
now...the seniors citizens (again always men!! huh) take the first two seats and sit there...good...they r for them and they r sitting...disabled people always have their seats reserved and none can ocupy them in their presence.
now women are left with with 1/3 portion of the bus where they sit, stand, hang, fall and get up in the bumps...but...men always have the advantage..they r microbes...omnipresent...from the footboard to front door..they are everywhere....they dont mind falling on female passengers..they dont mind occupying seats reserved for ladies..have no courtesy to get up (ugly behaviour..)
its strange to see that the senior citizens who always turn up to be men demand for their seats...and never bother getting up when they see some old human in late 70s and 80s.....again its turn for female passengers to get up and offer the seat...now they dont have room to stand as men have already taken the little possible place in the bus...
everyday there are fights in the bus...female passengers asking men to move a little bit, go to the back door...and whatever. Men will never listen...they enjoy their ride and u know what? we feel like pests touching our bodies...they dont understand this....and have no ettiquettes and courtesy....what are they made of? bus rideis hell for most of the women....everyday is an adventure and most of the time it is nothing but physical abuse...the silence of women never breaks as they keep it withhin to avoid any disputes...if any one speaks out..i bet the man responsible for the act will be beaten up to death by rest of the women.
Ghosh..please....give us some space...atleast in the buses...we need it yar...
